Psalm 22, conclusion
Let us praise the Lord together as we sit at the foot of the cross of Calvary, the very cross that brought about our freedom. We have seen Him through the horror of the cross, let us now behold His triumph. The darkness of the cross has passed Him by and the light of the freedom of His people shines brightly on His face.
As the great bulls, roaring lions, and powerful dogs surrounded the cross, Christ called upon His heavenly Father to save Him from their death grip- and God the Father heard His Son’s plea. “You have answered Me.” (Psalm 22:21b, NKJV) The purposed plan for the life of Christ was complete and God answered the petition of His beloved Son in whom He was well pleased.
“I will declare Your name to My brethren; in the midst of the assembly I will
praise You. You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob,
glorify Him, and fear Him, all you offspring of Israel! For He has not despised
nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; nor has He hidden His face from
Him; but when He cried to Him, He heard. My praise shall be of You in the great
assembly; I will pay My vows before those who fear Him. The poor shall eat and
be satisfied; those who seek Him will praise the LORD. Let Your heart live
forever! All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all
the families of the nations shall worship before You. For the kingdom is the
LORD’s, and He rules over the nations. All the prosperous of the earth shall eat
and worship; all those who go down to the dust shall bow before Him, even he who
cannot keep himself alive. A posterity shall serve Him. It will be recounted of
the Lord to the next generation, they will come and declare His righteousness to
a people who will be born, that He has done this.”
Psalm 22:22-31, NKJV
Can you see the change in our Savior’s heart from grief and sorrow to victory and praise? I love so much that you and I are included immediately in His praise. Christ says I will praise You, My heavenly Father, and declare Your great name to my brothers and sisters. Christ will tell of the excellent greatness of the Lord God Almighty to those of us who are joint heirs with Him in the eternal inheritance of the Kingdom of God. Do I hear an AMEN!! He is inviting us to join Him in that praise- You descendants of Jacob, you offspring of Israel, you who are of the seed of Abraham- praise Him, praise Him, praise Him! No longer shall our spirits hunger and thirst, but we shall now be filled with the righteousness and sweetness of the Lord. When we seek Him, we WILL find Him. God will abundantly bless those who belong to Him and our lips will worship Him in praise. Our souls will no longer be bound by the chains of sin and death because His love for us bound Him to the cross of Calvary, paying for our sin debt. We now have the freedom and ability to live forever rejoicing and singing His praises.
All that we have, all that we are, all that we ever will be is only because of God and His great love for us. You righteous people who have been born of God, tell of His greatness; tell of His wonder; tell of His love to the generations to come so that a people yet to be born will praise the Lord.
